| Ann
Miller-Cohen (a.ka. Organic Annie) is the wife of Nathan A. Cohen, the mother
of Shad and Timothy Miller, and the surrogate mother of Jojo,
a 3 year-old Irish Wolfhound mix. She is a long time nature
buff, forager and outdoor enthusiast. Ann has more recently
taken up digital photography to capture and share the beauty
and wonder.
Ann
is a "self-healer" with many years experience living
with a special diet. Allergy to chocolate was diagnosed at
age 2, other sensitivities-to wheat, most grains, dairy and
sugars--were self-observed later. She also uses herbs and
supplements, fasts, walks, rebounds, does yoga (Five Tibetans)
and breathwork, sings, chants and meditates for health and
spiritual growth and balance. If all else fails she just goes
to bed!
Ann
does eat dairy, wheat and chocolate on occasion, and observes
their effects as she works to rebalance herself. She notes
that while she can tolerate occasionally eating these foods,
her health quickly goes down the tubes if she eats them daily.
Professionally,
Ann is a Certified Iridologist and Preventive Healthcare Counselor, specializing in dietary
and lifestyle healing. She also offers applied kinesiology
and energy transmissions (Reiki, Seven Rays and Diksha) to
her clients.
She
is the author of Organic Annie's Natural
Health Tips and Recipes (Earth Angel Publishing, 2000)
and Organic Annie's Fresh Tastes for
Breakfast (wheat and dairy free), Earth Angel Publishing,
2005. The latter is the first volume of her special diet Green
Gourmet Cookbook series.
Ann
is the founder of the Green Gourmet
Cooking School of Central New York, which provides "hands-on"
experience in the preparation of special diet and healing
foods. She seeks to bring greater awareness and appreciation
of the inter-relationship between the self and nature, through
the use of plants for food and healing.
Ann believes that self-healing is an adventure for the body
and mind, lead by spirit, and that as we heal ourselves, we
heal our families, society and ultimately the planet.
